Lisa See author of the Liu Hulan and David Stark mystery series of contemporary China, the first of the series Flower Net was nominated for an Edgar Award. Her latest novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is a historical novel of 19th-century China
Laura Joh Rowland Chinese/Korean author but her mystery series is set in 17th Century Japan with Sano Ichiro, chief investigator for the current Shogun of the time
Anchee Min Born in China, Min emigrated to the US in the early 1980's. Her novels focus on historical Chinese fiction regarding life as Chinese royalty
Aimee Liu Chinese American author of historical ficton and espionage thrillers

Jhumpa Lahiri Indian American (Bengali) Pulizter Prize winning author for her debut short story collection Interpreter of Maladies. Her second work, The Namesake will be released as a motion picture in March 2007
Sujata Massey Indian/German author of the Rei Shimura mystery series. Rei is a Japanese American antiques dealer dealing with crime and her family on both sides of the Pacific. The first novel of the series The Salaryman's Wife won an Agatha Award and was nominated for the Anthony Award

 

Japan

 

Julie Otsuka Japanese American author born and raised in California, her debut novel When the Emperor was Divine was nominated for the Orange Prize for Fiction
Haruki Murakami One of Japan's most popular authors and winner of many international book awards, many of his novels are in translation. His latest short story collection Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman includes many that appeared in the New Yorker magazine.
